About the event

A bit about tonights musician...

Marcus Scats to his guitar, occasional sings, guitar bow, instrumentals and one of the pioneers of guitar body percussion while playing. Marcus has performed at most Australian folk festivals, both large and small and many overseas and he's been among the headliners at some festivals. Inbetween his original compositions & well known music,   Marcus chats about  stories of the many fascinating people,  humorous circumstances, extremely unusual places he's performed at on his world concert tours, and audio engineering recording projects  that have seen him meet some very different characters or as it's labelled these days, the non-neurotypical.

Here are 3 quotes which best describe Marcus's music style:

"I was fortunate enough to catch a performance of Marcus; emotively weaving folk, funk, jazz, Middle Eastern, Celtic, flamenco and more with technical ease, diverse percussive beats on the guitar's body, while simultaneously playing melody, harmony, and scatting; a stand-out, innovative composer".

Robin Lumley - Audio engineer / producer (gold and platinum status), keyboardist for David Bowie, Phil Collins, Moody Blues, Stephane Grappelli, Bill Bruford, Eric Burdon, Gary Moore, Procol Harem, and the London Symphony Orchestra.

"Marcus has forged a truly unique sound from the acoustic guitar; melody, harmony, and in your face rhythm on one instrument. Astounding". Tony McManus. Renowned Celtic Acoustic guitarist.

"Marcus is not merely an adept guitarist; he has the happy ability to play music rather than just notes, and to infect the audience with his own joy.”  Doug Spencer - Ex Producer /Presenter ‘The Planet’ ABC Radio National.
