This years lineup includes:
Van Diemens Brawlers - Tasmanias newest club, hailing from Hobart, they train in Bohurt and they go hard! The only thing hitting harder than their polearms is their style! What is Bohurt/Buhurt? Glad you asked. Check this out >>> Buhurt is love <<<
Van Diemens Sword Fighters Association - (VDSA) Battling in Burnie every Sunday, this crew pits everything from vikings to armored knights in the ring. A merry band of brawlers with the armory to back them up! Make sure to try out gear for yourself!
Society for Creative Anachronism - (SCA) From Launceston to Hobart, the SCA does all things medieval. Feasts, games, arts and sciences, but we are here for their fighters! You won't want to miss their "Heavy" fighters as the hits land fierce, fast, and on point!
Sovereign Military Order of the Knights Templar - (OSMTJ) With training locations in Devonport and Launceston, the Templars bring western martial arts to the table. Swinging steel, building character, and promoting honor while working with their community sums them up. Don't mistake kindness for weakness, they back up their values with strength! This is sword fighting after all.
Stoccata School of Defence - The Launceston Stoccata branch has been running classes since 2015. We study British historical martial sources (1599-1711) as martial arts. Our core weapon method is British backsword either as a solo weapon or paired with buckler, targe or dagger. We also study other methods described in our historical sources such as smallsword, rapier, dagger, quarterstaff and wrestling. We are not a reenactment group, but love those who are. The chances that you will need to defend your life with a sword in our modern world is small- but, we train as if you will.
The Great Northern Demo is put on by SwordsTas. Uniting medieval combat enthusiast around the state. Find out more about them and how you too can join a group near you. Visit https://www.facebook.com/groups/swordstas
